This product has been used at over 300 Locks this summer during trials and has proved to be sturdy during the rigours of locking. It has been extensively tested by repeatedly throwing it into the canal and has always displaced it's own weight in water, so returning to the surface.

Thus it is easily retrieved with a boat hook.
